Men's Boxer shorts
Boxer shorts at Basics are the everyday underwear pieces designed for Indian heat — 100% cotton construction, slim fit cut, with print and check patterns that move beyond the standard plain-white expectation. The range covers loose-leg classic boxers (for sleep and post-shower comfort) and trim-leg knit boxers (for under shorts, trousers, and jeans without visible bunching). All construction uses combed cotton at 160-180 GSM — enough thickness for a 12-month wash cycle, light enough for Chennai-Mumbai summer humidity. Patterns include geometric prints, checks in navy/black/grey, and tonal solid colours; novelty prints are kept out of the range so the wardrobe rotation stays adult-appropriate. Sizing runs true to Indian fit — order your usual waist size. Elastic waistbands are jacquard-woven (not glued-on tape that peels at six months), so they hold shape through 100+ wash cycles. Care is straightforward: cold machine wash with similar colours, tumble dry low or hang-dry, iron only if you fold for travel. Boxer shorts are the underwear category most men under-spend on — paying ₹200 for boxers that pill at three months means buying three pairs a year. Basics boxers at ₹400-500 last 12-18 months of regular wear, which works out cheaper over time and feels noticeably better against the skin. Free shipping on orders above ₹799, free 30-day returns, COD available everywhere.

Frequently Asked Questions about Boxer shorts
What's the difference between woven boxers and knit boxer briefs?
Woven boxers (the loose-leg classic style) sit roomier through the thigh, breathe better in Indian heat, and work best for sleep, post-gym, and around-the-house wear. Knit boxer briefs sit trim against the leg with elastic at the thigh-hem — they prevent leg-bunching under jeans, chinos, and slim trousers. Most men use both: woven at home and gym, knit under outerwear. Our range covers both — woven sit lower on the hip and use jacquard waistbands; knit sit higher and use covered-elastic at the thigh.
How do I pick the right size?
Order your usual waist measurement (e.g. Size 32 = 32-inch waist). If you're between sizes, size up — boxers should sit comfortably without the waistband digging in when you sit. The fit chart on each product page shows hip and thigh measurements too; if your thighs are athletic, you may want to size up by one even if your waist fits the smaller size. Don't size down for a 'fitted' look — the leg-hems will roll up and the seams will chafe within a few hours of wear.
Will the print fade after a few washes?
No. Our prints are reactive-dyed cotton, not surface-printed transfers. The dye chemically bonds with the cotton fibres so the print stays vivid through 80-100 wash cycles before noticeable fade. To extend print life: wash inside-out in cold water (30°C max), use mild detergent without bleach, and dry in shade. Direct-sun drying fades dyes faster across all categories — boxers, t-shirts, shirts alike. If a printed pair fades inside 6 months, that's a manufacturing fault — contact us for a free replacement.
How many boxers should I own?
For daily Indian-climate wear, 8-12 pairs is the right rotation: enough for a full week plus 1-2 days slack, plus 2-3 'best' pairs for travel or special occasions. Boxers are the underwear most under-cycled — owning fewer means each pair sees 2-3 washes per week and wears out faster. With 10+ pairs in rotation, each pair sees ~1 wash per week and lasts 18-24 months. The cost per wear works out lower than owning fewer, more often-washed pairs.
Why 100% cotton and not cotton-modal or microfiber?
Cotton breathes better in Indian humidity — modal and microfiber trap heat against the skin, which causes more sweat, not less. Cotton wicks moisture away from the body and dries on the line, microfiber wicks but holds moisture in synthetic fibres until laundered. For 9 months of the Indian year (March-November), cotton boxers stay measurably cooler and drier through a day of wear. The 3-month winter window is the only time synthetic blends might be marginally warmer — but if you need warmth, layer a thermal underneath, don't switch the boxer fabric.
What's the return policy for innerwear?
Innerwear returns are allowed within 30 days as long as the item is UNWORN, in original packaging, with tags attached. We cannot accept returns of opened, washed, or worn innerwear for hygiene reasons — same as every reputable Indian retailer. If the size or fit is wrong, exchange to a different size is free. If there's a manufacturing fault (loose stitching, faded dye, broken elastic) within 90 days of purchase, we replace free of charge regardless of wear status — just contact support with photos.
