Men's Trousers
Picking the right trouser comes down to two things: the fit through the hip and thigh, and the leg taper from knee to ankle. Basics trousers cover the four cuts that handle 95% of how Indian men actually dress. Comfort Fit sits straight through the seat and thigh — the easiest first pair, the one that fits most body types. Relaxed Fit has a fuller cut through the leg with a softer drape, more casual in feel. Skinny Fit is narrow throughout for a sharper, modern silhouette. Tapered Fit is fuller at the hip and thigh and narrows clean to the ankle — currently the most worn cut for smart-casual and office. Fabrics include 100% cotton for everyday wear, breathable linen for summer, and stretch-blends with 2-3% lycra for movement without losing shape. The range spans 14 colour families — black, navy, beige, olive, grey, and brown as the office-ready core, with brick, maroon, mustard, and teal for when you want something less expected. Designs include solid, checked, striped, printed, and textured weaves. Length options suit Indian heights — most unhemmed at the ankle so you can tailor them, with standard inseams covering 5'6" to 6'1". Pleated fronts on some formal cuts add room without bulk; flat-front cuts read sharper and more modern. For office use, navy and grey solids handle the most rotation, with beige and olive adding warmth to a brown-shoe wardrobe. Pockets are deep enough to hold a full-size phone and wallet without bulging the line of the trouser; back welt pockets are reinforced at both ends to prevent tearing under day-to-day use.

Frequently Asked Questions about Trousers
What's the difference between Comfort, Relaxed, Skinny, and Tapered fit trousers?
Comfort Fit is a straight cut through the hip, thigh, and leg — easy on most bodies, no tapering. Relaxed Fit is fuller through the leg with a relaxed drape — most casual. Skinny Fit is narrow from hip to ankle — sharp, modern, body-skimming. Tapered Fit is fuller through the hip and thigh and narrows toward the ankle — the most versatile cut for office and smart casual. Pick by silhouette preference and how much room you want through the thigh.
How should men's trousers fit at the waist and length?
The waistband should sit at your natural waist or just below, snug enough to stay up without a belt for a few minutes. Length should be a "slight break" — the fabric just touching the top of your shoe with a small fold, no pooling at the ankle. For tapered and skinny fits, many guys prefer no break (hem ends at the ankle bone). If you wear formal shoes regularly, slightly longer; for sneakers, slightly shorter.
Are linen trousers good for Indian summers?
Yes — linen is one of the most breathable fabrics available and an obvious choice for April-June in most of India and year-round in coastal cities. Pure linen wrinkles more than cotton (this is the trade-off for the breathability) but the texture is part of the appeal. If you want the cooling effect without the heavy rumple, a cotton-linen blend gives you 80% of the breathability with 50% of the wrinkling.
What's the difference between trousers, chinos, and formal pants?
"Trousers" is the umbrella term for any tailored leg-wear. "Chinos" specifically means cotton-twill trousers, usually casual to smart-casual, often in beige, olive, navy, or grey. "Formal pants" are dressier trousers — often in finer fabrics, with a sharper crease and a flat front, intended for suits, weddings, and formal office settings. Most of the Basics range falls between casual chinos and smart-casual trousers — wearable to both office and evening.
Flat-front or pleated trouser — which to pick?
Flat-front trousers have a clean front with no folds at the waistband — the modern default, leaner silhouette, works for office and casual. Pleated trousers have one or two folds at the front waistband for extra room through the seat and thigh — a more traditional look, also more comfortable if you have larger thighs or sit a lot. For most men buying trousers today, flat-front is the right starting point; pleated is the choice when comfort through the thigh matters more than visual sharpness.
Should the trouser hem have a cuff (turn-up) or be plain?
Plain hem (no cuff) is the modern default — cleaner line, works with both formal and casual. Cuffed hem (a 3-4cm fold at the bottom) is a classic detail that adds visual weight, traditionally paired with pleated fronts. For most casual and office trousers, plain hem. Cuffs work best on heavier formal trousers (worsted wool, heavy cotton) and look out of place on lighter linen or chino-weight fabrics. If buying online, plain hem is the safer default.
