Men's Sweaters
A good sweater for the Indian context has to do something most overseas designs don't: keep you warm in a Delhi morning fog without overheating you by 11am in the office. Basics sweaters are cut in Comfort Fit — relaxed through the body with a straight hem and ribbed cuffs that hold their shape. Knits use 100% cotton or cotton-polyester blends — warm enough for the North Indian winter rotation (October to February in Delhi, Lucknow, Chandigarh) but breathable enough to wear under a jacket without trapping heat. The range covers crew-neck and v-neck styles in solid and subtly patterned knits. Colours span 9 families — classic navy, charcoal grey, brown, and olive as the foundation winter-wardrobe palette, with deeper purples, reds, and yellows for variety. Construction details — flat-lock seams that don't itch, fully fashioned shoulders that hold their line, ribbed hems that don't curl — matter as much as the knit pattern, and these are where Basics sweaters earn their place over generic fast-fashion knits. Layered over a shirt or worn on its own over a t-shirt, the range is built for everyday winter wear that lasts more than one season. Sizes run true; if you're between sizes, go down for a closer fit (especially crew-necks worn alone) or up for layering room over a thicker shirt. Most weights work from late October through February in North India and through January in the South. Care is straightforward — hand wash or a gentle machine cycle, lay flat to dry, and they hold up year on year.

Frequently Asked Questions about Sweaters
Are cotton sweaters warm enough for Indian winters?
For most of India, yes — Delhi, Lucknow, Jaipur, Chandigarh, Bangalore mornings, and other regions with 8-18°C winters are perfectly handled by a cotton or cotton-blend sweater, often layered over a shirt or t-shirt. Cotton breathes better than wool, doesn't itch, and is easier to care for. For sub-5°C conditions (high-altitude regions, parts of Himachal, Kashmir in deep winter), you'd want wool or heavier knits. For the bulk of urban India, cotton sweaters are the right choice.
How do I layer a sweater for office or casual wear?
For office: shirt + sweater (crew or v-neck) + trousers. The collar shows above the sweater neckline. V-neck pairs better with ties; crew-neck pairs better with open-collared shirts. For smart casual: t-shirt + sweater + jeans or chinos, with the t-shirt either fully covered or with a small crew-neck showing. For colder days: add a blazer or coat over the sweater. The trick is matching weight — a heavy sweater under a slim blazer will pull and bunch.
How do I prevent a sweater from pilling?
Pilling (those small fuzzy balls) comes from friction. Wash sweaters inside-out on a gentle/cold cycle, never in a tumble with rough fabrics like denim or towels. Fold, don't hang (hanging stretches the shoulders and creates points where pilling concentrates). For first signs of pilling, a fabric shaver or pumice stone clears them quickly. Lower-quality cotton blends pill faster than tighter knits; Basics knits are constructed to minimise this.
Should a sweater be tighter or looser than a t-shirt?
Slightly looser — a sweater is a layering piece, so it needs room for a shirt or t-shirt underneath without pulling tight across the chest or arms. If you wear a Medium t-shirt, a Medium sweater is usually correct; if it feels snug over a shirt, size up. The shoulder seam should sit at your shoulder bone, not slip down the arm. Sleeves should end at the wristbone with cuffs just hugging the wrist.
Crew-neck or v-neck sweater for everyday wear?
Crew-neck sweaters (round neckline) work alone or layered, suit a wider range of body types, and pair with both shirts and t-shirts. The default for most men. V-neck sweaters (V-shape at the front) show more of what's underneath — they're the right choice when you want a shirt collar and tie visible, or when the sweater is being worn over a button-down shirt at a smart-casual office. For one sweater, crew-neck. For two, add a v-neck.
Why does my cotton sweater stretch out at the cuffs?
Cuffs stretch when you push them up your arms repeatedly (rolling sleeves, washing hands, etc.) or hang the sweater on a hanger by the shoulders. To prevent it: fold sweaters, don't hang. Re-shape cuffs after each wash by hand-pressing them flat while damp, then air-drying. If a cuff loses its elasticity, soaking the cuff briefly in cold water and re-shaping it while drying can partially restore the rib. Once fully stretched out, it usually doesn't recover.
