Striped Shirts for Men

Striped shirts for men sit between plain shirts and checks: smart enough for the office, with more character than a plain shirt. All our striped shirts have vertical stripes, which run the length of the body and make you look taller and leaner. In India they're often called lining shirts.

Kinds of stripe. Bold, wide stripes in contrasting colours are the most casual. Fine, narrow stripes, close to a pinstripe, look the smartest and suit the office. Tone-on-tone stripes are woven in the same colour as the shirt, so they look almost plain from a distance and show their texture up close.

Fabric. Most of our striped shirts are cotton, in twill, herringbone, dobby, leno and oxford weaves, each giving the stripe a different texture. We also have cotton linen stripes for hot days and a viscose polyester stretch stripe that moves with you.

Colours. Blue and navy are the classic office stripes. We also have white, maroon and wine, green and olive, teal, brown, grey, beige and yellow striped shirts.

Fit and sleeve. Almost all our striped shirts are slim fit: tapered at the waist and neat through the shoulders. Choose full sleeve for work and evenings, and half sleeve striped shirts for summer and weekends.

How to wear them. Wear a striped shirt with plain trousers in navy, black, grey or beige. Tuck a fine stripe into formal trousers for work; wear bold stripes untucked with jeans or chinos. Don't pair stripes with checked trousers.
